The social media application named TikTok has been removed from Google Play Store and Apple App store after the Madras High Court banned the downloads of the applications. The High Court in Tamil Nadu urged the state government on April 3 to put ban on TikTok downloads, as it encourages pornography and that sexual predators could target child users. Google is a statement said, it does not comment on individual apps but to local laws.
TikTok was unavailable on the Google Play Store and Apple App store, from Wednesday onward. TikTok was downloaded more than 240 million times in India, a report of app analytics firm Sensor Tower claimed. In January 2019, more than 30 million users installed the application. The application allowed the users to make a dub-smash videos making jokes, clips and footage to share on the TikTok platform.
